Gastroscopy is the gold-standard diagnostic procedure for identifying gastric ulcers in horses.
Competition horses are particularly prone to ulcers due to training intensity, travel and management factors. Gastroscopy allows direct examination of the stomach lining so ulcers can be diagnosed and monitored accurately.
Treatment often leads to significant improvements in comfort, behaviour and performance.
Endoscopy allows detailed examination of the upper airway and respiratory tract. It is particularly valuable for horses showing:
- Poor performance
- Respiratory noise during exercise
- Coughing
- Reduced stamina
Even subtle airway abnormalities can influence performance in sport horses, making accurate diagnosis essential.
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment used to stimulate healing in soft tissues such as tendons and ligaments. Commonly used for:
- Suspensory ligament injuries
- Tendon injuries
- Soft tissue strain
- Certain chronic musculoskeletal conditions
Often delivered as part of a structured rehabilitation programme designed to support recovery and return to work.
